The Sixth Form at The Ilfracombe Academy is open to all students in the school and to students from other schools in North Devon who wish to apply.

Historically, the Sixth Form has been very successful and has received successive glowing reviews from OFSTED. We pride ourselves on knowing our students well and pushing them to be the best that they can be, both inside and outside the classroom.

If you are considering applying to our Sixth Form and would like to find out more about what is on offer then please take advantage of the following:

• Every year we hold a Sixth Form Open Evening in the autumn term where students and parents are given the opportunity to look around the school and explore the different subjects on offer.
• The Sixth Form Prospectus and Supplement containing information on all the courses
• The Academy has an open door policy where interested students and parents can request to have a tour of the school or a meeting with the Head of Sixth Form at any time

Applying to the Sixth Form

For those students who wish to apply to join the Sixth Form, the application process is as follows:

1. Students must submit a ‘Sixth Form Application Form’ by the end of November indicating what subjects they wish to study. 
2. The school will invite each student to a guidance interview with a member of the leadership team to review their options and choices (in January/February)
3. Students will then receive a formal letter in February confirming their offer for a place in the Sixth Form (subject to meeting the entry requirements)
4. Students must return the slip on the letter confirming their acceptance of a place in the Sixth Form

All students who are offered a place in the Sixth Form are invited to attend the Sixth Form Induction day in July where they are provided with more detailed information about the Sixth Form and their subject choices.

Finally, advice and guidance is offered on GCSE results day in August to all students who are reconsidering their options and choices.
